As winter precipitation is expected to move through central Alabama, crews with Jefferson County are prepping now for road treatment.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Jefferson County Coroner is investigating three deaths that UAB confirms were caused by hypothermia. The deaths have occurred in the past 24 hours as temperatures continue to plummet, highlighting the dangers faced by those without adequate shelter or warm environment.

The postmortem examinations aren't complete and could take at least six weeks to complete before an official cause of death is released for each case, the coroner said.
