The ADL’s new “Mamdani Monitor" targets Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani over antisemitism concerns, but some Jewish groups say the move is unfair.

After the ADL announced its scrutiny of Zohran Mamdani, the mayor-elect told reporters, "I take the issue of antisemitism incredibly seriously."

The Pennsylvania governor, who is Jewish, previously criticized the New York mayor-elect for not condemning “blatantly antisemitic” rhetoric.

FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker announced Wednesday that he will resign, and Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Kaz Daughtry will likely follow, the New York Daily News reports. Tucker sent an email to Mayor Eric Adams only hours after Mamdani’s victory, saying that he will step down after December 19.

Mamdani was joined in the protest by other radicals, including Siraj Wahhaj, a Brooklyn imam who was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and once acted as a character witness for Omar Abdel-Rahman, the terrorist who organized it. Mamdani recently came under fire for campaigning with Wahhaj.
