Mike Duggan, who is running for governor as an independent, said the state has been "a joke" nationally for its changes to school accountability.

The outgoing Detroit mayor has OK'd emergency funds to help food pantries amid concern that federal benefits will disappear for those who rely on subsidies to buy groceries.
