An Afghan national living in Oklahoma City was charged with conspiring to conduct a terrorist attack on Election Day in the U.S. on behalf of ISIS.

A 27-year-old Afghan national living in Oklahoma City was arrested on Monday for allegedly plotting an Election Day terrorist attack on behalf of ISIS, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

WASHINGTON — According to a criminal complaint filed today, 27-year-old Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, who lives in Oklahoma City, conspired and attempted to provide material support to ISIS and obtained firearms and ammunition to conduct a violent attack on U.S. soil in the name of ISIS.

State leaders spoke out Tuesday after an Afghanistan citizen living in Oklahoma City was charged with conspiring to commit an Election Day terrorist attack on behalf of ISIS.

An Afghan man living in Oklahoma City was arrested by the FBI for what officials say was a planned Election Day attack to be carried out for designated foreign terrorist organization ISIS.

The DOJ said the 27-year-old and a juvenile co-conspirator were plotting to target large groups of people on November 5th in the name of ISIS.
