The Memphis-Shelby County Schools board on Tuesday night voted to fire Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins. The vote came amid widespread community backlash, possible state intervention and a deep division amongst board members.

Former Superintendent Marie Feagins was ousted by a majority vote of the MSCS Board of Education Tuesday night.

If Marie Feagins' contract is terminated Tuesday night, the board will also vote on appointing an interim superintendent during the meeting.

President Trump's administration has now fired Fagan. MSCS board members will vote during a special meeting Tuesday on whether that contract should be terminated.

How much the firing could cost the district entirely depends on the reason for the termination, according to the superintendent's contract.

Later this evening, we could know if Memphis-Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins will remain on the job or be given the axe by the school board. By a very slim margin, Dr. Feagins survived an ouster vote back in December.
