The system that brought heavy rain and flooding to Tennessee turned deadly after a mother, father and child in East Ridge were killed by a tree that fell on their car.
A Flood Watch has been issued for most of Middle Tennessee through 7 p.m. Wednesday. This watch was issued for the poor runoff of water within heavy bands of rain that can cause ponding on the roadways. This will be very specific to areas that receive the rainfall today.
We are going to be dry and hot this evening but changes in the weather are coming on Tuesday and sticking around for a few days. Two different frontal systems will try to impact our weather this week and bring rain and storm chances back to West Tennessee.

At least three people were killed after a series of flash floods brought more than six inches of rain to Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Tuesday, August 12, officials said. By Wednesday afternoon, several roads remained closed.
An AccuWeather Ambient weather station in Rising Fawn, Georgia, south of Chattanooga, reported 8.39 inches of rain during the event. More storms to the west of the city Tuesday morning caused flood warnings between Tullahoma and South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Roads were also reported underwater near Lynchburg.
The first half of 2025 was one of the wettest first halves of a year on record in Middle Tennessee. Since then, rain has been rare, and drought is beginning to form across the area.
