British number one Katie Boulter loses in straight sets to Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko in the Wuhan Open first round.

British No. 1 Katie Boulter has been knocked-out of the Wuhan Open in the first round after a straight-set defeat to Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko.

Boulter had eased to victory over Tsurenko when the pair clashed in the first round of this year's San Diego Open, where the Briton won her maiden WTA 500 title, but she was a shadow of that player in Tuesday's contest as her 35-year-old foe earned a slice of revenge.

Katie Boulter bowed out in the first round of the Wuhan Open with a disappointing defeat to qualifier Lesia Tsurenko. Boulter was error-strewn throughout against Ukrainian Tsurenko, ranked 62 places lower at 96 in the world, and fell to a 6-2 7-5 loss.
