The Glass House, built between 1949 and 1995, is a National Trust Historic Site located in New Canaan, Connecticut. The pastoral 49-acre landscape comprises fourteen structures, including the Glass House (1949), and features a permanent collection of 20th-century painting and sculpture, along with temporary exhibitions.

Our most popular tour includes The Glass House, Brick House, Painting Gallery, Sculpture Gallery, outdoor sculpture, and Da Monsta, with a three-quarter mile walk over grass and paths. Available on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (November and December only).

NEW CANAAN, Conn. (May 10, 2024) – The Glass House, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, announces the completed restoration of the historic Brick House originally designed by Philip Johnson in 1949.

Glass House, 1949. The Glass House is best understood as a pavilion for viewing the surrounding landscape. Invisible from the road, the house sits on a promontory overlooking a pond with views towards the woods beyond. The house is 55 feet long and 33 feet wide, with 1,815 square feet.
