The Hauraki Gulf has been under attack from bottom trawlers ripping up the seafloor for over a century. Finally, we have an opportunity to stop trawling and dredging from further decimating precious habitats. The Hauraki Gulf Fisheries Plan is currently out for public consultation. This means the public finally has a say on the future of the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park. Unfortunately, the plan, developed by Fisheries New Zealand, currently allows trawling and dredging to continue. But a strong publ
