32x Marathoner: Chicago Marathon The universe gave me the most pain-free marathon I've had in a long time to help others. I met Kurt, a first-time 60 year old marathoner who fundraised for World Vision at mile two. We shared a light conversation, and he asked me several times in the past: Will you run/walk with me? From that point, i was committed to seeing Kurt succeed. He's one of the most beautiful people I've come across in this space, and I'm humbled that he chose me. Just when I thought it

Save/Share: For Chicago Marathon Runners I've completed the Chicago Marathon course 4X and knocked out 26 marathons over the years. Here's my pointers as a slower paced, super back of the pack runner that can help anyone on the course. I kept most of my pointers specific to the course, but some can be applied to other marathons. Here's a few bonuses that I didn't mention: 1. Every day people are pretty helpful. Some people stick around to cheer the super back of the pack runners (yes, you - 7 Ho

To finish the NYC Marathon with my husband this year means everything to me. He started working out with me with hopes of getting closer to some of his fitness goals and to spend more time with me. As we moved through shorter distances and powerlifting sessions together, I feel like we’re understanding each other’s worlds more than ever. I love you, Eric. Thank you for being my life partner and favorite marathoner in crime —even though you said you’re never doing another one again. 😂 Thank you

I slipped and fell on an ultramarathon. I signed up for the Prospect Park Track Club Endurance Fest 50K a few hours ago. My husband is used to my shenanigans at this point. Almost a decade ago, I trained, signed up, and finished the NYC Marathon. While on a runner's high, I thought it was a good idea to sign up for the NYRR Knickerbocker 60K because "what's an extra 11 miles," right? 😫🥴🙃 This time, I'm not so naive about that logic. 5 extra miles is still a lot, but I'm up for the challenge.

I'll be celebrating the Chicago Marathon race weekend for at least a week. My family is surprisingly not tired of me yet, but I'm sure they will be in a few days. Iwas trying to exhaust myself before our flight, so here's my 24-hour post race video. I'll see myself out and go take a nap on the plane. 📹: William, Jr. - I bet you'll ask for more money next time, and thanks for not laughing too hard and waking up Eric. He's going to side eye both of us for this. | Running Fat Chef

Here's my Chicago Marathon pre race thoughts. It's not hyperbole: I'm a super back of the pack slow AF runner, and I WILL be moving longer than 6 hours and 30 minutes after the last runner. In turn, I know from 26 marathon finishes and 36 marathon attempts, I WILL most likely run out of basic amenities - it is what it is. It's a daunting thought, but I've learned how to lean into the community. My number is N66191. I know what waiver that I signed. I know what comes with this. I elect to challen

This is my 8th year training for the NYC Marathon, and I'm prepping for all of the inclines, not just the bridges. This course is ranked the hardest out of the 6 World Majors, and rightfully so, with a total incline of 800 feet. While this course isn't impossible nor the hardest marathon ever, it is not to be underestimated. From my experience, people run super fast in Brooklyn, burn out around 16, and feel like hell around mile 20. Personally, mile 20 sends me to hell, but the Bronx running cre

We will not deny ourselves a yes at the Every Woman’s Marathon. As women, we are sometimes underestimated by the world and in turn, we deny ourselves. Tomorrow will not be that day. This marathon was created with us in mind and we will empower each other before, during and after the start line. I look forward to celebrating us for 26.2 miles in Scottsdale. Cheers to us doing hard things and inspiring future athletes to follow our footsteps. See you on the course. | Running Fat Chef

I've made it into the NYC Marathon for 9 years without being a speed demon. As a slower paced, plus-size girl, it is HIGHLY DOUBTFUL that I'll ever hit a pace to be a qualifier. The 9 1 program with New York Road Runners made it possible for a chronically ill girlie like me to do it for almost a decade. I've managed to stay active with their other events. Many people get in through fundraising, which I've done for some of their other events. This is my preferred method for NYC Marathon. | Runnin

People assume I’m fully sponsored because I compete and travel — I’m not and it’s never been the case. 🤷🏾♀️ Most of my NYC Marathon training and powerlifting season is self-funded by choice. I earned my marathon entry through the 9 1 program, an event that’ll happen later in the year, and now it’s time to secure that spot while preparing for Arnold and Nationals qualification. Six Things to Know As a Plus Size Runner 1. There's no shoes for "fat runners." Get a proper fitting/gait analysis. There's some shoes that MAY work better for plus size people but there's no specific one that I can recommend for your foot. Everyone's form is different. 2. Eat what works best for YOUR body budget - not your friend. Don't fall into the click bait commentary of "eating like a pro athlete." This may not work for you. 3. You don't have to run the entire time 4. You don't have to run

Navigating summer training in this heat for fall marathons is a whole nightmare, but we can and WILL persevere. Here's how I managed to navigate 31 marathons and 8 ultra marathons as a slower paced, chronically ill plus-size marathoner. I'll be knocking out 3 more this fall. Don't let this humidity and heat take your lunch money. 👊🏾👊🏾💪🏾💪🏾 | Running Fat Chef

As a plus size slow paced marathoner, you may fear doing time based training. This year it is my goal to finish the Chicago Marathon, NYC Marathon and Every Woman's Marathon between 7 to 8 hours. I am NOT a speed demon but I still find timed based runs helpful for my easy runs, fartlek, hill and speed work. It provides adequate flexibility to my schedule but I use distance based runs in my regimen as well. I love using distance for my long runs for peace of mind, gaining an accurate perception o

I'm not a fan of Boston Marathon's cult culture: A four minute video on the aftermath of training through harassment from an invitation as an influencer. I almost didn't share my perspective on the negative side of Boston Marathon culture, but I'm not one who leans on the illusion of silence as a safety net. I LOVE running but love storytelling and centering positive community building more. In 2021, I WORKED for an entry after an invitation was presented to me; I had mixed feelings about it. I'

I accidently slipped on 2 marathons an ultra... Alright, so boom: I left my obsessive marathon runner era back in 2019. That year, I attempted over 10 marathons. I was dumb tired after that tour. I'm currently in my fawkulookinat era. This looks like a fully loaded calendar filled with spring and fall major races. Here's the three that I finalized: Spring 2024: 🤦🏾♀️🙌🏾😩: NJ Trail Series 3 Days at the Fair (because another multisport athlete adventurer, ::cough Mirna Valerio cough:: said it
