I use resist where I don’t want glaze. Both reed wax and latex resist are great options for achieving my desired contrast between matte and glossy finishes. They both have their advantages and drawbacks and I usually lean towards the most efficient option for the job, which tends to be the reed wax since it’s so much faster to apply to a large batch of work.
