After almost three years at Wingstop I got let go. Not for being late. Not for calling out. But for walking off the line during a Friday night rush when my phone buzzed and my stomach dropped. My sister texted me “I’m in the ER please come.” I told my shift lead what happened and said I had to leave right now. He looked at me and said go handle your family. I drove straight to the hospital and stayed there all night. I honestly thought my job would be fine because they literally told me to go. T
