I remember as a kid hyperfocusing over LOTR so much I taught myself 2 dialects of Elvish and how to write in Tengwar from the back of the 3rd book Return of the King. Learning Devanāgarī script and Sanskrit I’m now appreciating Tolkien as a linguist again realizing he definitely used Sanskrit as a base for Tengwar script the ancient language of the High Elves.
